Inside Jennifer Aniston's $42M estate
The 10,000 square foot home itself possesses five bedrooms, seven and a half baths, a family room, two living rooms (one with a wet bar), a gym, a multimillion dollar equipment room, a staff room, a three car garage and a motor court.
The master bedroom claims two bathrooms that were formerly arranged as a his-and-hers pair. The very publicly single Aniston did away with the couples-style loo. Instead she converted the “his” bathroom into an indoor spa room fit for an independent working woman of Hollywood, with an imported Japanese soaking tub reported to have “special healing effects” for the body.
The two-in-one kitchen could easily classify as one of America’s Most Decadent Kicthens. There’s a main kitchen that includes a wine cooler and fire-burning pizza oven; inconspicuously nestled behind that is a second, much larger professional catering kitchen. “You can have your chefs preparing the food and then bringing it around the corner to the main kitchen and no one will know someone else is preparing the food — it actually looks like you’re preparing the food yourself,” explains Mills.
Unlike most high-end, celebrity-owned homes, Ohana lacks a home theater. Instead it houses a sprawling game room with large television. But viewing technology still abounds in this multimillion dollar complex. The master bedroom has a television that literally rises out of the floor at the push of a button. All of the home’s T.V.s have also been wired for computer connection.
Security technology also knows no limits in the Aniston abode. The house’s wine cellar is engulfed in a biometric security system, meaning only Aniston’s unique fingerprint id can pop the lock. The same goes for her built-in jewelry cabinet. If you have a collection of baubles fit for movie premieres and Oscar nights, then this would be a must-have amenity.
Aniston snatched up the Harold Levitt-constructed property in 2006 for $13.5 million. She then set to work with renowned designer, Stephen Shadley for the next two years, extensively renovating the 1970 structure and adding square footage. The actress moved in in 2009.
Mills says a major factor that Aniston insisted upon in the remodeling process was construction with Green consideration and smart house technology. (Even so the home is not actually certified green.)
Ohana’s finished rooms graced the magazine pages of Architectural Digest’s March 2010 issue. In that interview, the Aniston told the publication her home “vibrates with the love that created it,” adding that she is “so proud of this house.”
Mills says the Ohana estate has already entertained a handful of private showings. “I think the person that’s going to buy this is the person who honestly wants to do nothing — just bring their clothes and move into the house,” she muses. “There’s not one thing you would have to do before moving into this house because it’s in perfect, perfect condition.”
The Daily News and Curbed reported earlier this month that Aniston’s been on the prowl in Manhattan for a new East Coast pad to call home, possibly in a $15 million penthouse in the uber-hip and celeb-centric West Village neighborhood.
